Real Time Satellite Imagery

Spacemetric was part of the Netherlands Ministry of Defence Force’s project Ground Support for Imagery Operations, GISMO. The project is being conducted in cooperation with the National Aerospace Laboratory (NLR) and ImageSat International N.V. Spacemetric has provided an automated integrated solution for operational geometric correction of EROS-A and SPOT-4 satellite imagery received in near real time by NLR’s RAPIDS mobile ground station.

The GISMO project demonstrated the use of satellite imagery to support military operations. The integrated mobile ground station was fielded during Autumn 2004 in military exercises Low Lands and Allied Warrior. Here it supported the Dutch 103 ISTAR battalion and Dutch-German army corps (1GNC, NATO NRF) with near real-time orthoimages, change-detection information and thematic maps based on direct-reception EROS and SPOT satellite imagery. The technology provided by Spacemetric was selected for GISMO following an evaluation by NLR of several alternative providers.
