First orthoimage production workstation
SIP/Ortho was a workstation with integrated satellite orthoimage production. It was developed by Spacemetric to meet Metria’s operational requirements. The Metria Satellite Image Facility in Kiruna was part of the National Land Survey of Sweden.
The workstation combined high throughput with high quality for the wide range of satellite sensors. It was the first production system in the world able to provide orthoimages from the Eros satellite. It also provided similar products from other satellites including Ikonos, Quickbird and Spot 5.
The SIP/Ortho solution supported a flexible mix of interactive and offline production. It made use of rigorous photogrammetric methods and enabled high-accuracy image products at low cost.
