The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) is an ongoing effort enjoying ISR (Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance) support from the Swedish Armed Forces. The Swedish UAV 03 (Shadow 200) is a tactical drone able to make sorties over a large part of the country, providing ground troops with much-needed information.
The Full Motion Video from the UAV 03 is managed by Spacemetric’s Keystone software, providing image and video processing capabilities. “We are proud that the system is being used in Mali – providing further proof of its positive contribution to intelligence gathering”, says Dag Åsvärn, Spacemetric’s Armed Forces Key Account Manager.
Starting in 2008, Spacemetric has supplied the Keystone software to the Swedish Air Force for storage and processing of still images from the Gripen jet fighter’s reconnaissance pod. Then Spacemetric was asked to supply Keystone to support Sweden’s participation in the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) mission in Afghanistan, handling the video streams from the Swedish UAV 03 drone. The mission in Mali represents the latest international mission with the Swedish Armed forces for this key system
