Sweden experiences severe problems caused by the long lasting heat and draught of the 2018 summer. Next to dramatic impact on agriculture, forest fires pose a significant problem to the country.
The Swedish Civil Protection and Preparedness Authority (MSB) uses Sentinel satellite images as a decision aid in combating the forest fires. The images are an important tool for the rescue service in the planning of various efforts. The satellite images are taken from the SWEA satellite data portal, a system delivered by Spacemetric.
